The first phase of the new EU trade mark regulation entered into force on 23 March 2016. Further new regulations came into effect as from 1 October 2017: the EU certification mark, a new type of intellectual property right at the EU level, was introduced among others. The requirement for graphical representation ceased to be effective as of this date. Priority claims, applications, procedural rules in opposition, cancellations, appeals, rules on belated evidence, etc. was reorganised.
